Attracting Quality Affiliates to Your Program

Most companies launch an affiliate program and wait. Quality affiliates don't just appear. You have to recruit them. Here's how to attract affiliates who actually drive sales.
Pay Competitively
Affiliates compare programs. If your competitor pays 30% and you pay 15%, you'll get the scraps. Check what similar programs offer and match or exceed it.
Recurring commissions beat one-time bounties for affiliates. A 30% recurring commission on a $50/month product beats $100 one-time after 7 months. Affiliates do this math.
Make Your Program Easy to Find
Put "Affiliate Program" in your website footer. Create a dedicated landing page. Link from your main navigation if possible. If affiliates can't find you, they can't promote you.
Provide Real Marketing Assets
Don't just give affiliates a link. Give them:
- Banners in multiple sizes
- Email swipe copy
- Social media post templates
- Product screenshots
- Logos with transparent backgrounds
- Case studies and testimonials
The easier you make it to promote, the more affiliates will promote.
Approve Quickly
Don't make affiliates wait weeks for approval. Review applications within 48 hours. Good affiliates apply to multiple programs. The first to approve gets the promotion.
Communicate Proactively
Send affiliates a welcome email. Tell them about new features, promotions, or content they can use. A monthly affiliate newsletter keeps your program top of mind.
Offer Tiered Commissions
Reward your best performers. If someone drives $5,000 in sales, bump their commission. This incentivizes affiliates to prioritize your program over others.
Provide an Affiliate Dashboard
Affiliates need to track clicks, conversions, and earnings. A good dashboard builds confidence. If they can't see their performance, they'll assume the worst.
